My First Season of Collegiate Marching Band!!

My first season of Marching Band at UNH was an experience like no other! I have always been very passionate about music and marching band but after experiencing and training on the college level my passion has grown. I moved in a week early to college to start band camp. For a week the entire marching band would train but physically with marching and both musically with learning new pieces at a rapid rate. This week was very physically demanding and called for 14 hour days in the 85 degree sun. At the end of the day, I would end up with around 25,000 steps and be truly exhausted. Though at times it was challenging, it really provided me with a better understanding with what goes into creating a great marching band show. The show theme this year was titled "All Roads Lead Home" including songs "Penny Lane", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "Hit the Road Jack", "On the Road Again", "Life is a Highway", "Country Roads", and "Road to Connemara".

This is a candid photo of me at the last performance of the season. I remember feeling so proud of all of the work that I have put into this season. It was truly one of my favorite performances I have ever done.

Overall, this season was amazing. It was a great outlet for me to continue my passions of music as escape any drama I was dealing with my first semester. I met some really great people and feel apart of a family. This season I played the piccolo, but I am currently looking into learning the mellophone for next season which is nerve wracking since it will be my first season marching brass, but I am very excited!!
