My Experiences with Multimedia Communications

Image
Though I didn't initially "pick" to be in this class, I enjoyed learning about different computer software's and learning what goes on "behind the scenes" with digital media art forms. During my time in class, I was able to create my own gif, interview, digital animation, and a gallery of photographs for a photo "Scavenger Hunt" assignment. I think my most difficult assignment was creating my own gif. It was my first time using that software and I was having trouble with the key frames and changing the movements little by little so that it transitioned smoothly. Once I got the hand of it, I was able to successfully create my very own gif which depicted a bowling ball hitting a pin. My favorite assignment was the Photo Scavenger Hunt. In class we were given a list of prompts and had to capture photos that fit the prompt. I liked this assignment best because I was able to be truly creative in capturing certain moments in my day-to-day life. I also en...

My November Trip to NYC and Visiting an Underground Jazz Club!!

Image
Over Thanksgiving break my boyfriend and I went on a trip to NYC to walk around the city and go to an underground jazz club. My boyfriend and I took a train to Grand Central Station where we then walked to Bryant Park and explored all the different vendors they had. From there we had walked to Raising Cane's, which was my first time eating there! It was so amazing I would definitely have it again!! From there we walked around the city and visited St. Patrick's Cathedral, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, and more! Later on we took a subway downtown to get closer to "Smalls" jazz club. After a long journey of traveling and getting lost along the way, we were downtown and stopped at a local pizza place to get a quick bite before going to the show. After we ate, we went to the show. It was an amazing experience. I felt like I was in a movie. Their was a really good trumpet player and tenor saxophonist along with a drummer and bassist. Once the show ended we ran ...

My First Season of Collegiate Marching Band!!

Image
My first season of Marching Band at UNH was an experience like no other! I have always been very passionate about music and marching band but after experiencing and training on the college level my passion has grown. I moved in a week early to college to start band camp. For a week the entire marching band would train but physically with marching and both musically with learning new pieces at a rapid rate. This week was very physically demanding and called for 14 hour days in the 85 degree sun. At the end of the day, I would end up with around 25,000 steps and be truly exhausted. Though at times it was challenging, it really provided me with a better understanding with what goes into creating a great marching band show. The show theme this year was titled "All Roads Lead Home" including songs "Penny Lane", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "Hit the Road Jack", "On the Road Again", "Life is a Highway", "Country Roads", an...

My very first YouTube video!!

Image
On October 17th, I uploaded my very first YouTube video. For my Multimedia Communications class we were prompted to film an interview. In this video I had decided to interview my roommate Kennedy. The setup process to record this video was a challenge in and of itself. I did not have my own tripod so I had to improvise my stacking books on my desk and placing my phone in a mini phone stand that I had so that my camera could be stable. I also ran into trouble because my phone was out of storage and so was my roommate's phone, so I had to contact my other friend and use their phone and email the videos to my personal email and then download them on my computer to edit. I really like my choice of location for this video, I feel that the natural lighting sets an authentic feel without it being too "forced". I feel that my video was very well balanced both in symmetry and lighting. I would definitely consider making another YouTube video in the future, the filming process was ...

My Favorite Things!!

Image
I have many different interests such as going to concerts, performing in music ensembles, baking, and art.      One of my most prevalent interests is band. I have been a part of various different musical ensembles for the past 10 years. In fourth grade I transitioned from the recorder to the flute and began to love it. I joined concert band and proceeded to practice with every chance I got. As I grew older, I began to branch out and do solo work where I would get professionally judged. As I went into high school, I met my closest friends and took band more seriously. I later joined Concert Band, Marching Band Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, and Percussion Ensemble. In my junior and senior year, I had leadership roles as Field Major and Drum Major, which grew my passions even more. This year I have joined the UNH Charger Marching Band, and the UNH jazz band, where I know play the piccolo and alto saxophone.      Something els...

First day of multimedia communications!

Tuesday the 29th was my first day of multimedia communications! It seems like a very interesting class. I am taking multimedia communications in order to improve my digital media skills. I am not someone who is good with technology so I think this course would be beneficial to me. I believe that this class will be good for expanding my skills as I grow as an individual and enter the workforce my next few years. I am excited for the rest of the semester in this class!
